Install Shar-Teel separately?
« on: March 19, 2015, 08:23:53 AM »
Is there a way to just install Shar-Teel?

The rest of the NPC's already have been added to my BG2 world via other mods.

And trying to install BG1NPCsforSOa over my Megamod installation gives me erorrs which make the installer uninstall the component again.

These are the lines which produce errors in the installation (the .cre in the override can not be found)

Code: [Select]
// Yeslick
  COPY_EXISTING ~7XCRE2.cre~ ~override~
    WRITE_EVALUATED_ASCII SCRIPT_OVERRIDE ~7XYESL~ #8
  BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES

// Garrick
  COPY_EXISTING ~7XCRE3.cre~ ~override~
    WRITE_EVALUATED_ASCII SCRIPT_OVERRIDE ~7XGARR~ #8
  BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES

// Skie
  COPY_EXISTING ~7XCRE4.cre~ ~override~
    WRITE_EVALUATED_ASCII SCRIPT_OVERRIDE ~7XSKIE~ #8
  BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES

// Branwen
  COPY_EXISTING ~7XCRE5.cre~ ~override~
    WRITE_EVALUATED_ASCII SCRIPT_OVERRIDE ~7XBRAN~ #8
  BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES

// Eldoth
  COPY_EXISTING ~7XCRE6.cre~ ~override~
    WRITE_EVALUATED_ASCII SCRIPT_OVERRIDE ~7XELDO~ #8
  BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES

Hmm.. That's because the the mod comes equipped with creature checks so you don't get duplicate characters running around. So, if you already have Yeslick installed in a different mod, it should skip over him and install the next NPC. Not sure about a megamod installation though.

Shar-Teel should install regardless of whether the other npcs are loaded up or not, but if you are having problems with it installing as is, I can only advise that you open up the .tp2 file as a text document and edit out the code you posted above. Hope that helps.

Or... you might try renaming your existing NPCs to the names correlating in the code you posted above and assigning them that script  and dropping them in the npc folder of BG1NPCsforSOa so that it will pass through weidu. Of course, backup all your files in case things go array. That plan might make things mess things up if said npcs are involved in a quest or if things get mixed up with the character scripts but otherwise, you should be platinum.

I have kind of the opposite question to Vlan.
If I already have NEJ shateel installed, am I correct in understanding that this mod will identify that and still install it's first component with the water gardens and other NPCs, but will just skip over adding Shateel?
Or will I end up with sha teel twice?
Or will it identify the NEJ shateel and not install the whole first component?

These are the creature checks for Shar-Teel.

Code: [Select]
ACTION_IF NOT FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~shartel.cre~ OR FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~sharte12.cre~ BEGIN

COPY ~BG1NPCSoA/BG1NPCSoACRE/7Xcre1.cre~ ~override/7Xcre1.cre~

Have not played NEJ in a while so I cannot say if sharte12 is from that mod specifically. If WEIDU finds the creature name in its checks, it should skip past that one and install the rest of the mod component including the Water Gardens. I have been told that people that do mega-installs have had some some problems when they try to reinstall although I can't say for certain.
