Mosworkshop question
« on: January 27, 2013, 04:27:48 PM »
Where does the installer put it?

I ran the installer, and it just says the install was successful (0 errors), but it doesn't give me a clue as to where it's installed and doesn't appear to have added any shortcuts anywhere. I look through the common directories (documents, C:, program files, etc) but I can't seem to find it.

I believe it makes a folder called Gafware that is under your Program Files.

Hmm checked but it isn't there. I tried extracting the zip installer's files and running the setup but it told me that it isn't compatible with my version of windows (I'm running 64 bit windows 7). Adjusted compatibility settings to no avail. Oh well, I'll try something else when I get home.

My Windows 7 64bit doesn't like it either. Strange.

I had the same problem with BamWorkshop.

The reason why is simple : the install is done by a very old version of InstallShield (3.00. 1996 !), running in 16 bits.

Isaya, a french modder and translator, gave me the solution to install them : http://www.baldursgateworld.fr/lacouronne/outils-et-tutoriels-pour-linfinity-engine/24327-tutorial-installation-de-bam-worshop-mos-workshop-mos-util-sous-windows-7-a.html.
I translate it :

First of all, you need to download WinPack at the end of that page and intall it.
Once it's done :

  • Unzip MOSWorkshop_v1007.zip.
  • Using 7-Zip (maybe WinRAR, I didn't tested it) , open MOSW1007.exe and extract all the files.
  • Run WinPack.exe.
  • Command "Load packed file" and select "C:\...\MOSWorkshop\_SETUP.1"
  • In the Archive content window, select "Group1".
  • Clic "Extract a folder" and choose a directory where you want to extract the files.

Now, you can run MosWorkshop !    ;)

With this process I have been able to install all the old tools I needed with Windows 7 (64 bits).
