Potential Paladin Kit
« on: December 12, 2012, 07:39:07 PM »
Hi, everyone! I'm very new to modding but I am excited by the prospect of creating kits. I was thinking of creating a Paladin kit called the Templar that is a more defensively themed, 'bodyguard' type of character. Before I get cracking away at it, though, I would like some feedback as to balance and viability of the kit, first. Thoughts, anyone?

Advantages:
Gain “Detect Evil” as a normal Paladin
May use “Lay on Hands” once more per day for every 7 levels
Gain Innate “Protection from Evil 10’ Radius” at levels 1, 10, 20, 30, and 40
Gain Innate “True Sight” at 10th level and every 10 levels thereafter
May use Innate “Chaotic Commander” at 12th level and every 12 levels thereafter
Gain +1% Resistance to Fire, Cold, Electricity, and Acid damage each level
Immune to Fear and Morale Failure
Immune to Hold and Charm spells
Moves at 1 point faster than normal

Disadvantages:
Gains 1 less Cleric spell slot per spell level than a normal Paladin
May not Turn Undead
May not use Missile weapons
May not use two handed weapons
May be no higher than Proficient with one-handed melee weapons
May only select Sword and Shield and Single Weapon as Styles
Gain Innate “Protection from Evil” only every 5th level

It looks good to me but others will probably say its overpowered. Trim down some of the positives.

I thought there was a Templar kit in the AD&D The Complete Paladin's Handbook but I didn't see any. That books has a lot of information on paladins and kits. There are free downloadable PDF versions of this book. Use your favorite search engine to find it.  ;)
