Mod ideas...

icon_lol.gif Well, not really a full mod idea, but bits and pieces here and there. NPC wise, I think the game is quite short of Paladins (esp Undead Hunter, my favourite, and Monks?) Most recent in progress mods seem to centre upon mages and assasins and bards etc.

icon_wink.gif Also, I think it will be great if the stronghold quests can be expanded/extended. What I mean is let it end in a grander finale, at a more challenging level. Some examples will be:

1) Mage - Wizard War between different clans/organisations
2) Thief - Stealing/retrieving a priceless/powerful artifact from a
heavily guarded fortress
3) Cleric - (Currently SO boring! icon_mad.gif ). How about helping to remove
a legion of undeads led by a ... Mummy King/Death Lord
recently inhabiting the Graveyard crypts?
4) Fighter - D'Arnise involved in a LARGE scale battle with legions of
invading monsters
5) Paladin - A Dark Paladin recently arrived in Amn and has killed
several members of the Radiant Heart. He has to be
REALLY powerful, and has to be stopped.

icon_rolleyes.gif The list goes on. I think this will be practical and much easier
since the areas, items and creatures can be recycled.

Funny that you mention paladins since I had a bunch of items made, some I included in Desecration of Souls were paladin usable only. From what I've seen on other boards people like the idea of expanded or enhanced strongholds.

i would like a mass war between a high-level party and a army with 100-150 orcs... all orcs as good as in the ones in the cave outside Easthaven in IWD1... except about ten of them who would be more high-level orcs... would lag a lot... well than was MHO...

Yeah, there's no arguments about DoS's Paladin only items, but what I pin point at is specifically Paladin-kit NPCs. Keldorn is good, popular, but it stinks to think that every time you need paladin, you MUST have Keldorn. How about an undead hunter? icon_cool.gif

My point is, there are really too many cool kits in the Baldurs' II (Archer, assasin, undead hunter, monk etc) and I think it a waste of resource and a pity if I complete the game not using them. Many of the NPCs are general class (eg Minsc - Ranger). It also restricts my group combo (thief must be Jan, Paladin must be Keldorn, etc) icon_confused.gif

Ivanji's mass war idea is precisely what I liked for mods, only that if the 100-150 orcs are replaced by cambions/skeleton warriors/yuan tis ?

Surely you know that Skeleton Warriors are powerful undead fighters armed with two handed swords+1 and are highly resistant to magic and are useful summoned allies to as far as the early mid stages of Throne of Bhaal. What for do you want hobgoblins and orcs when you can easily send dozens of them to hell within one second with a deathspell, cloudkill or other area effect spells from your mage? Their experience values sucks too! icon_wink.gif

(By the way, are we talking about Baldur's Gate II? Cos I only owned Baldur's Gate II and Throne of Bhaal at the moment)

IWD mostly... can also be used to BG2 and ToB if you doubles the enemies... and don't tell how many enemies there will be so he cannot load up with these...

Sounds like some good ideas guys. Know anything about modding and perhaps put your ideas into practice?

I would love to. But I gave up 3 weeks ago when I got stuck creating a spell that summons 3 juggernaut golems (BGII). After 2 whole days, I managed to get them summoned, but they died on the spot! (????)
icon_rolleyes.gif It gonna take me another few weeks to learn about modding, and by then, my vacation is long over icon_cry.gif
Currently, I'm figuring out (with a little success) how each type of files work with each other. Hope I will eventually have the honour of becoming a modder!

Ivanji, as i have seen now you did not get an answer to what a cambion is, well then im going to answer it the best i can.
A Cambion is (as far i have understood and used it like) a some what like a half-demon, thouh they spend their time in the (dont hang me up on this i cant remember if they ar Baatezy, Tanary or the third kind of demons in the blood war (you know what that is)) Abyss/Nine hells/ or the third kind of place where the demon of the forgotten realms world eksists, hoped i helped you just a bit.
To be correct NO there is not 100% chance, Some enchantments can be way to diffecult for the mage of your level to even begin to understand (i dont know the mod as ive said not even tryed bg1), some items could be minor Artifacts wich mean you can only know what they do from history.

That's a very good try. But somehow I would associate the cambion more with an outer planar demonic creature. In BGII they are just pathetic weaklings to be brushed aside... icon_twisted.gif

By the way, I think the Darkest Day and the Tactics mod both did a great job in making Amn/Faerun...(whatever you call the world) a HELL to walk in. I think such enhancement mods (in difficulty) will be most welcome to scores of (by now) veteran players out there. I excel icon_cool.gif in the use of mages, and I use a pure 6 mages group (with a mage/thief of course). I am able to solve almost all situations like dragons, vampires, liches, beholders, demons etc.

How about a Oriental Adventures?

how about a mod based on Rokugan or Karatur?

samurais, ninjas and shugenjas, can be based on paladin monk and sorceror (IWD 2)

maybe your reputation (BG2) can be used to provide bonuses? >> maybe those familair with the L5R stories (both CCG and RPG) will remember "strength of purity" >> target a personality with PH 3 or more. target personality gains 3F/3C?

a permanent disease/energy drain/curse like the shadowlands taint? and those with the taint are contagious...

maybe add ancestors as feats (like in oriental adventures)

just a few sugggestions

Aha, I like the idea of more "oriental" flavoured mods. But isn't Tortured Souls available for download?
