It's been a while since I played. Is there any evidence that Monty has been killed? Or is it just what the Harpers say? You can't trust the words of a Harper. ;)

Montaron was one of my favorite characters in BG2.   I tended to like fighter-types because you get to use armor and just pummel the enemy from up close.  That worked in BG1, too.  Sadly, there were several times when I just kicked Xzar out of the party and kept Monty because I didn't want a mage getting in the way of my sword-swinging party.   Now when I play I don't use the interior-desertion trick to get one character out of a pair.

Gonna be 100% honest here and say that i didint liked the duo in BG1, i usually just had them in my party until i switched one of them for Viconia,Ajantis or Kivan. Their apparition on BG2 was much better (with or without mods) for the, shall we say, irony of the situation they are in. Xzar quoting Oppenheimer is awesome though.
