I assume you are asking if "making NPC mods" is still in.
I think that yes, they are, but the number of people with "great ideas" has always been greater than the number people who can implement those ideas, or wish to put the effort in to learn how to. Also, there have been so many NPC mods done that we might be running out of unique NPCs to do, though I think there is always room for more.

I would love to see more quest mods, and not just dungeon hack n slash quests either.

I am always torn on questions like this.

I like NPCs, variety is good. Still, there are lots of choices I have not got around to playing.

Mega-Mods are good. Lots of quests, items, new areas... The ones that exist though are lacking in dialogue.

Quest mods are good, but typically it is a dungeon crawl, or just lots of combat with a nifty little reward. Sometimes they include some dialogue.

I guess I like NPC mods, because most of them come with a quest, and since it all resolves around [insert NPC name here}, there tends to be a lot of dialogue.

So I guess what I would love is a new megamod, with tons of banter, that is not just all fight-fight-fight, kill-kill.

As I am all over the fence on what would be my prefered mod to see, I have not voted yet. I am interested to see more discussion before I comit to a vote.

MajorTomSawyer said it very well.

A Megamod that introduces a new NPC or 2, that has more than 'go to dungeon A, kill boss A, acquire item A, go to dungeon B' to it would be good. But that is going to definitely require more than one person to make it good and still release it in time while BG2 is still on everyone's hard drives.

I still enjoy originality no matter what it is, though. One thing I enjoyed for example was how to acquire Amber, when you had to go and talk to all the people in the government district building just to let her out of jail. It was unique, and even gave me some good chuckles, and that was  before I had even gotten her!

Yes. The more I replay this terrific game the more I tend to vary on NPC's and given the rising number of well made NPC's (both SoA and ToB) and the advance of crossmodding - which in itself makes the combination of different NPC's more interesting - I should say definitely yes.

I still need certain classes as NPC's ie pure clerics which sadly are so very few. But that's just me :)

They're starting to get old. I am starting to prefer quests mods now.

I think that there will always be room for more NPC mods. I love variety in my party and quite frankly each contributer kind of puts there own stamp on the game just by having a new voice to listen to. Those that are banter friendly usually make me laugh at some point, which is always great. But truthfully, just about anything that expands my BG experience is great!

Quests.

Whenever I see yet another NPC mod idea thread I just think 'will they ever get over with it and start doing something more useful?' Then I realize it's often people's first attempt at getting creative, so I keep silent and go by my business. But play those first attempts? Thanks, do not want, save some more rare cases.

That's like the old quote: "Join the army, go to interesting places, meet interesting people and then kill them". ;D

I'll do another BG2 run to try out a new NPC, but I won't start a new game just for one quest. Instead, I'll wait until there's a new NPC to try and do the quest mods that have come out in the meantime then.
