Discussion and Ideas
« on: August 10, 2008, 04:00:45 AM »
This is an on going mod. I will add in new content as I think of it or hear ideas from others. I will even accept tweaks from another also. I am more than happy to expand this mod.

Congratulations! I'm glad to see BG1 getting some attention.

I just wanted to point out that this mod is not going to be compatible with Tutu, though it might work all right on BGT. Tutu renames resources during the conversion, so file names are not going to match. I thought I should point this out to spare you from having to deal with a whole lot of "But it doesn't do anything!" reports.

Just wanted to mention there was an existing mod in development with the same name.  I think there was a working beta or at least an alpha somewhere in that thread, though I don't know what the current status is.  Indeed, I thought it had migrated over here when I first saw this. But it appears this is something else, though some of the tweaks are the same.  Who knows, maybe you could take over those other tweaks too (most of which were adapted from BG2 Tweaks I believe).

Indeed I do. Since the original BG1 Ease-of-Use mod replaces files instead of patching, I thought I'd try my hand at a little modding. I'd call it a working beta, but I'm pretty much the only one who's tested it.

Lot's of stuff taken from DaleTweaks and BG2 Tweak Pack. Just waiting for Cam to show up again (it *is* G3 code) and give his go-ahead. I'd have it as an open beta, but I can't seem to attach it and can't send it anywhere with the WeiDU executable... Once I finish my first play through SoA/ToB I'll be back to finish a couple tweaks I want to get working.

Guess yours makes a third tweak pack; yours, mine and the original by Tioma (Igor Potemine).

Don't mind me, though. You've your own ideas for what you want to include. I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

What a nice little mod. It never occurred to me to edit Drizzt's file so he doesn't use that uber +30 hack master on you.

Hey Methuselah,

Any thoughts about including some the tweaks/fixes found in the following mods?

     BG1Ease-of-Use
     DudleyFixes(12)
     HarderBG1Patch
     iiTweak
     MixMod
     StorePrices
     Vault

These are all great mods, but it sure would be nice to have one mod that does it all!  ;D

Cheers,
LoneRogue

The next MixMod will be BG1-compatible (for some components at least where it makes sense - others will be auto-skipped).  Many of the DudleyFixes have gone in the BG1 Fixpack, unless they're tweaks.

Or if I haven't coded them. Miloch wanted to get the GTU to an installable state before I over burden him with patches to be tested.

Oh, yes. I am plainab.  Thought I'd give my PC character a bit of life outside of the Sword Coast, so I'm using her name here.  ;D

No Tutu? That is too bad, they shouldn't have renamed the game's resources. Perhaps a Tutu version in the future.

iiTweaks is available at http://www.teambg.eu/forum/ It's the work of igi the maintainer of the IESDP. I don't know about the other two.  While you are at teambg.eu checking out igi's tweaks, feel free to stop by my boards and check out my Interactive Tweaks mod. It's small but it can do some interesting things.... Look for the threads under 'Mods by AB'

We can never have enough tweak mods. Just as long as they are optional installs.

Any how I may have some tweaked files that I did a long time ago that I'll give to you. I have to find them first.  :-\

Here is something for you. This was a request for the fixpack. But it changes too much to be considered a true fix. Besides the behavior is already in the Original Saga and so perhaps ToTSC.
I've recoded for vanilla only and am offering it to you.

Situation:
In vanilla the bandit scalps can be placed into the quick item slots.
This behavior can not be changed using 'normal' methods. The only way to do so was to make a radical change (i.e. re-assign the item type to the bandit scalps).

Here is the code:
Code: [Select]
BEGIN ~Remove Quick Slot Usage from Bandit Scalps~
REQUIRE_PREDICATE (GAME_IS ~bg1~) ~This tweak only needed for vanilla version. Behaviour is already similar in Original Saga and perhaps ToTSC~
COPY_EXISTING ~misc86.itm~ ~override~ //Bandit Scalp
 PATCH_IF (SOURCE_SIZE > 0x71) THEN BEGIN
  WRITE_SHORT 0x1c 0x003b //Fur/pelt and now bandit scalp
 END
BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES

//Officer Vai's store needs to purchase this new item type
//Add to Feldpost's Inn as well so that player has additional place to dump scalps
COPY_EXISTING_REGEXP ~stovai.sto~ ~override~
                     ~inn3351.sto~ ~override~
 PATCH_IF (%SOURCE_SIZE% > 156) BEGIN
  READ_LONG 0x2c itmpuroff
  READ_LONG 0x30 itmpurnum
  SET change=0
  FOR (x=0;x<%itmpurnum%;x+=1) BEGIN
   READ_LONG (%itmpuroff% + (%x% * 4)) itmtype
   PATCH_IF (%itmtype% = 0x3b) BEGIN
    SET change=1
   END
  END
  PATCH_IF (%change% !=1) BEGIN
   INSERT_BYTES (%itmpuroff% + (%itmpurnum% * 4)) 4
   WRITE_LONG (%itmpuroff% + (%itmpurnum% * 4)) 0x3b //furs/pets
   WRITE_LONG 0x30 (%itmpurnum% + 1)
   READ_LONG 0x34 itmsaleoff
   READ_LONG 0x4c drinksoff
   READ_LONG 0x70 curesoff
   PATCH_IF (%itmsaleoff% > %itmpuroff%) BEGIN
    WRITE_LONG 0x34 (%itmsaleoff% + 4)
   END
   PATCH_IF (%drinksoff% > %itmpuroff%) BEGIN
    WRITE_LONG 0x4c (%drinksoff% + 4)
   END
   PATCH_IF (%curesoff% > %itmpuroff%) BEGIN
    WRITE_LONG 0x70 (%curesoff% + 4)
   END
  END
 END
