Am I supposed to recognize any of the bands/groups/singers being mentioned?

Evil hidden everywhere
Evil has a chilling stare
Null and void of any care
Is where the answer lies
It does no good to beg or cry
It does no good to question why
It does no good it never dies

Personally I'm more worried by the fact that he's never heard of Mozart.  :-\

Pehaps it would help if we listed some of the more famous songs by the artists we have mentioned?

 If so....

Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl, Crucify, Professional Widow, A Sorta Fairytale.
Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights, Running Up That Hill, Hounds of Love.
Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, I Drove All Night.

Mozart was not a band/group/singer though. He was a composer. ;)

And I've heard Girls Just Want to Have Fun. None of the other songs/artists though. Sorry.

Per me si va nella citta dolente.
Per me si va nell eterno dolore.
Per me si va tra la perduta gente...
Lasciate ogni speranza perduta che'entrate!

No cable, parents don't buy newspapers.

Internet, while that would mean I was randomly searching for things...

They're coming to take me away haha. They're coming to take me away hoho. hehe haha hoho. To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time. And I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their bright white coats...

My aunt and uncle listen almost exclusively to older music. I don't think my uncle ever left the 70s-80s.

T-Shirt ? That reminds me of one local punk band - it's called I Will Kick You With a Roller-Skate  :) Friend of mine says he saw them in one festival (mabye it was Rockfest? or something like that - not sure about it :-[) and they were quite good  :lilly

Right now, I have a love for Poe, Tori Amos, and Vienna Teng.  I top that off with love for the Cruxshadows, Nightwish, Jack Off Jill, Inkubus Sukkubus, Guster, Duncan Sheik, Bella Morte, and Assemblage 23.  Then there's stuff I went through my teen years with, ranging from Goo Goo Dolls to Depeche Mode to Garbage to Matchbox 20 to a bunch of different stuff.

In general, I like things with lyrics, and singing rather then talking/rapping/screaming.  If it has that, I'm willing to give it a listen.
