If you wanted, you could always spam CTRL-I and get the banters faster. I think I'm going to tweak the bantergoose in my own installation, though, because you never go through all of them at 40 minute intervals.

Really. Did you have to get Minsc and Dynaheir first? Cause going to the stronghold with Edwin never once turned out well for me.
I believe so.  If you already have Dynaheir in your party when you meet Edwin, he will be peevish but will not fight immediately, as he will if the situation is reversed.  Pretty sure this is default behaviour without BG1 NPC.
