Mod Making Discussion / Question about WEIDU and SUBCOMPONENTS
« on: December 14, 2012, 02:26:15 PM »
Hey all, Smiling Imp here... Just had a question that I hoped some experienced coders could help me figure out. I finally learned to make a proper subcompent, which will come in handy when it comes to having two version of Kagain (one with only vanilla items). However, I find that in some cases it tends to slow installs down.  :(

What I am basically trying to do is this..

~Ask about Alternate Portrait options?~

If yes, then you would be asked about the different options, if no, I want it so that it fast forwards past all the portrait options until the next component. I tried looking at a few mods that do this, but the coding is difficult to get. Any help here would be appreciated.

BG1 NPCs for SoA / Help Faldorn Destroy Trademeet
« on: October 22, 2012, 04:26:23 PM »
I was reading some threads on the BG:EE Forum when I came across this idea and thought it was brilliant. In this mod, Faldorn will join your party after you defeat her in battle, but what if you had an evil party and wanted to help her destroy the Trademeet? Seems like a cool way to give more role playing opportunities.

Ideally, you would help the Shadow Druids in a huge battle against the guards, the merchant families and the genies and then scorch the Trademeet to the ground, wiping it off the map. A new movie, similar to the one that happens when Saradush is destroyed, can help capture the true impact of the devastation.

BG1 NPCs for SoA / Wish List
« on: October 19, 2012, 06:13:53 PM »
Here is a place for people to post things they would like to see in the mod. I have a few of my own, that for whatever reason, time constraints, lack of skill or whatever, I could not do myself.. (yet  ???)

1) A scripted cut scene resolving the Abelard-Heloise-Fulbert Saga.

2) A scripted auction on the second floor of Lady Goldsword's where players would have a one time chance to land precious artifacts.

3) More things to do with the condo you can buy in the Water Gardens. Eventually, I pictured it like a stronghold, only with funnier tasks such as buying enough shrimp cocktail for a dinner party of having your suit tailored correctly for the cotillion.

4) Some place for Oswald to take you in his airship... For any that have finished this quest all the way through, you will know that Oswald offers to take you somewhere in his airship but the dialog options only allow you to decline. I hope to change that one day.

Probably more stuff, but that is all I could think about off the top of my head.

BG1 NPCs for SoA / Platinum Coins for Modder use
« on: October 09, 2012, 06:26:10 PM »
A while back I had this idea of adding different types of coins into BG2 because in real life, they would not have just one kind of uniform gold coin.. Never really took off, but a lasting remnant of that are the platinum coins found in this mod. Some of the merchants in the Water Gardens will only sell certain rare items for platinum coins and I have added a few more items that can be bought with them. There is also a moneylender that will change platinum coins to gold and vice versa at four gold coins per platinum. (The real value of gold to platinum is 5 gold coins for 1 platinum)

What I am asking of any modders out there, is if they would add platinum coins to their mods. All you would really need to do is change the reward that some of the enemies in your mods give from random treasures into a few platinum coins. I greatly appreciate any that decide to participate as I think it will add some flavor to Amn and add some continuity between more mods. Below I have added an attachment that gives the item and BAM item icon so all you need is to copy the following into your .TP2 and you are platinum, baby!  8)

COPY ~"Insert your folder name here"/PLATNUM.itm~ ~Override/PLATNUM.itm~
SAY NAME1 ~Platinum Coin~
SAY NAME2 ~Platinum Coin~
SAY DESC ~Platinum Coin

Platinum coins are a form of currency. As a form of currency, these coins proved to be impractical: platinum resembles many less expensive metals, and, unlike the more malleable and ductile silver and gold, it is very difficult to work.~

BG1 NPCs for SoA / Tiax and Cyric encounter in ToB
« on: September 18, 2012, 04:04:03 PM »
Obviously, Tiax the Great must speak up when in the presence of the almighty Cyric, but as of yet, I have not decided what the outcome should be. I thought maybe some feedback might give me a fresh perspective. What do you guys think would happen when Tiax meets Cyric?  ???

Mod Making Discussion / Adding new animations to BG2
« on: September 15, 2012, 08:17:54 PM »
Has anyone ever tried this? I found this...

... And was fooling around with the idea of adding driders to Sendai's Enclave. It gives me animated GIFs to work with, but I have no idea what to do after that.  ??? I know there is Infinity Animations which does this task, adds the animations slots etc. and I  would like add an animation and keep it compatible with that. Was wondering if anyone had any pointers or could point me in the right direction.

However, things can always be better. So if any people out there have any contributions, feedback, suggestions, that they can give, please, feel free to post them here or PM me, what ever you feel comfortable with.

I would also like to ask any other modders out there working on a project. If you are interested in doing any crossbanter with the NPCs from this mod, I would be happy to work together on something. It doesn't haven't to be a novel, just something simple that will add some to the gaming experience as well as keep us motivated to do more.

Thanks for playing,

BG1 NPCs for SoA / Mod Information
« on: July 23, 2012, 05:39:25 PM »
This mod adds the majority of NPCs from Baldur's Gate into Baldur's Gate 2 Shadows of Amn & the Throne of Bhaal expansion. They have new banters and interjections and a few of them have encounters and quests as well. The mod is broken down into different components, allowing for easy mixing and matching with other mods that may also add NPCs from BG1.

Additionally, you will be able to visit a new city area, the luxurious Water Gardens, where all the rich and famous of Athkatla go to unwind.
