Ye Gate House / One Man... Party?
« on: November 22, 2005, 09:30:38 PM »
I was soloing BG2 now until I get to TOB so I can work on a mod and I can't do ToB without end of SoA bonuses. :D

Anyway I get down killing Bodhi and am getting ready to leave. I get to the stairs to leave the basement but I get the voice. "You must gather your party before venturing forth." What? I clciked it again and I went up without a peep. :ninja:

Mod Making Discussion / The Priests' Lust
« on: October 16, 2005, 01:21:39 PM »
In BG2 Ano makes a few comments on Vicky's looks and I believe also has a flirt dialogue with her if the PC is romancing her. So I began to wonder if perhaps a romance would work between the two. Obviously not a romance of love, but I can see Viconia trying to seduce him. After failing his test she could even tr to convert him to the worship of Shar, causing perhaps a change of class(as changing his goddess would at the very least require him to start as a level 1 cleric(instead he could change to something else)) and probably a change in alignment. What does everyone else think.

Noobers Dwarven Hammer / This is what it means to be Held.
« on: October 02, 2005, 01:30:11 PM »
I don't know if this has been posted yet but after Hurricane Katrina and Rita here too I think the US can use whatever prayers you have to offer. I do not live in those states or anything but I believe that each of us can extend God's love to these people if only through prayers. It is one of the best things we can do and if possible I hope everyone here in the US considers helping those who are evacuating the southern states. Those who were in the pathway of these Hurricanes(or still are) I give you my prayers and ask for you to look for comfort in the only one who can truly provide it.

This is what it means to be held,
how it feels when the sacred is torn from your life,
and you survive,
this is what it is to be loved,
and to know,
that the promise was when everything fell we'd be held.

Mod Making Discussion / Why aren't there...
« on: October 01, 2005, 06:28:09 PM »
NPC's who join the Pc's party and sta for a reason other then their growing relationship with Charname. Everyone these days either forms a close friendship with the pc or falls in love. Well I say our Bhaalspawn friends need an ego downgrade from all these people fawning over him. So why don't we have an NPC who joins PC's party and has a romance/friendship with the secondary PC only just to spite big bad Bhaalspawn. Or even one of the Bio NPC's. Now I realize that several mods allow their npc to romance/befriend someone if Charname doesn't want them. But currently the only one I have seen so far that chooses a party member over Charname is Adenydd, and she seems to be frozen. And she still comes to a close friendship with charname.

Is this just the raving of an over-loved madman or do others feel the same way.

btw am considering making a mod like that.

A Half-Elven Bard or Cleric of Kelsar joins the party and befriends another character or NPC. Or possibly even romance with Half-Breeds.(Half-Elves/Half-Orcs)Not sure whether it should be male or female, or if romance should happen. Depends on how much you want your PC to be humiliated when they are ignored in favor of someone else. :-D

Noobers Dwarven Hammer / Duct Tape
« on: September 21, 2005, 07:12:24 PM »
Just decided I had to post this. Not sure if this is the right forum.

A few years back I mat a girl while going to a camp. We became pretty good friends and would go out to Burger King in our pajama's and stuff like that. She makes duct tape things and stuff and is gonna make me something. Well we went to camp again at the beginning of summer. Before it actually started we went into town a few times and at one of the stoors I found a shirt I just had to buy her.

On the front it has four strips of duct tape with writing on them.

Duct Tape is like the force, it has a light and dark side to it, and it holds the universe together.

Mod Making Discussion / Finally I found one
« on: September 21, 2005, 04:08:31 PM »
Hey guys, I think I finally found an idea I would be willing to make into a mod. So strap in and hold on the world will soon end. Or not. Um yeah here it is.

Name: (I really need a good one all mine are crap)

Race: Human

Class: Diviner/Cleric Dual

Align: NG or CG

Deity: Selune

Str: 12 (from hauling several pounds of  prophecies all over the place)
Dex: 16 (from training himself to be very gentle an aged documents)
Con: 10 (from living inside most of his life and not needing much fortitude)
Int: 17 (from being able to learn and memorise many prophecies)
Wis: 17 (from being able to understand the meaning of those prophecies)
Cha: 10 (from being in libraries his life, been unable to grow people skills)

This stats are temporary and quit subject to change consider them temporary and if you think of a reason why some should be higher or lower please say so in a constructive way.

NPC is a cleric of Selune who once was a diviner gifted with the power to make prophecies of his own. This ability was lost and now he has turned away from the magics of divination into magics of a much different kind. He now is a cleric recieving spells from Selune and has started the life of an adventurer upon realising the danger approaching with Alaundo's prophecies coming so close to fruition. He is currently searching for the Bhaalspawn to see if he can avert this disaster.

Mod Making Discussion / Return of the Insane
« on: September 07, 2005, 12:23:11 PM »
Ondehiraeth is a very old Elf, with long white hair. At first glance he seems relatively normal apart from this. But those who look closer see the glint of insanity in his eyes. They see a faint expression on his face, unreadable by most. It is an expression of utter sorrow.  He doesn't know his real name. He was told that people called him Ondehiraeth(An Elf with Mental illness while Hiraeth is Sorrow) The Elves who know him beleive he escaped into insanity to find release from the sorrow and pain that had once surrounded him. When he meets the party he is as crazy as before, but perhaps with the help of one who understands what he went through he could begin to live once more, with joy and happiness.

What the mod contains:
-Another old guy
-A chance for PC to try to play Psychiatrist
-A sharper look into the pasts of some BG2 characters
-Another Elf to join the squad of Charname

His class is undecided. I don't know what to make him. I considered making him a Wild Mage, because he lost control of his magic when he lost his mind but they have a 5% chance of losing it. I wanted him to have at least a 75% chance. Could be a Cleric of Ilmater the god of suffering for others. I could also make him a mage or any of the other above things.

EDIT: Btw his name is Own-de-hi-ray-eth. Hi is not like Hi as in hello but the ĎIí is soft. As in is or in.

The Mighty Pen / Comments on "Love of Life, Delight of Death."

Um here is a comment thread. I deserve to burn forever for doing that to poor Immy, but am now really tempted to continue it into SoA. Also sorry about the crappy ending. It was long past bedtime then.

The Mighty Pen / Love of Life, Delight of Death.
« on: August 11, 2005, 08:43:44 PM »
Those who love Imoen as the bright and cheerful girl she always was should not read this story. Unless they do not fear a different version of her. This story is probably rated about PG, nothing bad. No Mature scenes no gory images, only a very dark tale.

The girl stopped outside the temple of Bhaal. The gigantic doors, skulls littered about the gate, lead into a gigantic chamber. The temple stood in the very center of the Undercity. The place had been beneath even the sewers, and she even wondered if it was considered to be a part of the great Underdark. Here their small group had fought through undead and living alike to reach this place, to confront the cornered beast. It's plans ruined it had retreated her with only it's loyal followers to guard it. She had felt pity for the monster before she saw its father lying on the ground slain, cast aside when he was no longer needed. Family, it seemed, did not matter to it, not like it did to her.

The closest thing she had to a brother stood by her, only a few feet away. His shaved head reached almost halfway up the entrance. He was huge, only Minsc came near to rivaling his height, and he had a sword to match. She wondered for the thousandth time why they were both so tall; they made her out to be a Dwarf it seemed. Of course they did it to everyone not just her. She looked around at the rest of the group. Jaheira had finished checking her weapons and was preparing to cast her spells, spells that would assist in the battle to come. She began a spell of her own, Mirror Image. When it was finished she looked to the other Half-Elf, Khalid. He finished sharpening his blades and looked around nervously. After making sure there was no unwanted individuals near he walked over to Jaheira, spending a few moments together before what could well be their last fight. Minsc stood by Dynaheir watching her protectively, while Boo scampered about his shoulders occasionally squeaking.  Dynaheir cast a Stoneskin spell and she instantly imitated. After a few more spells, and a short period after, everyone nodded silently. She scanned the door again for traps, before nodding herself.

Lightly stepping forward, she constantly searched for traps while doing her best to remain hidden. The doors opened silently at her brother's strong touch. She slipped in silently and glanced around the room.

It was massive. If it had looked big on the outside it was nothing compared to how enormous it appeared on the inside. She could see the beginnings of the symbol of Bhaal on the floor and quietly warned the others of it. She stepped forward slowly each step bringing more of the room into view. Apart from the symbol in the center of the floor there were statues along the walls. A few steps farther and the throne came into view.

As did the fiend sitting on it. While not very impressive in height, certainly nowhere near her brother or Minsc, the one had a commanding presence. To the sides stood Tazok and Angelo as well as a mage she didn't know. Her gaze once again returned to the throne. There sat the one who had caused her all this trouble. There sat the monster that had not only killed Gorion but it's own foster-father as well.

There sat her, Imoen. The hair was a shade of pink, such an odd color considering the thing it belonged too, and kept almost to her shoulders. The eyes were blue-green and there was a scar over the right one. Their antagonist stood.

"Congratulations sister. I truly did underestimate you. Who would have thought that you could make it so far? The child of Candlekeep. Or should I say children? That must be Sarevok. Hmm. Large but not grand. He's of no concern to me. But that is not all of your little group is it. Lets see, Khalid and Jaheira, remind me to make one watch the other die very painfully, and the brute must be Minsc and his witch Dynaheir. Now I definitely have to kill Dynaheir and see the idiot's reaction. Though I wonder what her reaction would be to his death. Once I kill you we can see, eh Dyrana? Though I think I want to kill Sarevok first. The look on your face should be absolutely priceless."

She smiled wickedly and instantly began casting a spell. It took only a moment for Dyrana to recognize it and sent a Magic Missile, confident that it would disrupt the spell. By this time the other mage had begun his spell and the two warriors were closing in. Minsc went charging forward, screaming for Boo to attack, and to defend his witch. Khalid went after Angelo while Sarevok went to help Minsc with the Ogre. Jaheira began a spell to summon insects to disrupt the other mage while Dynaheir sent her own Magic Missile at him. His spell stopped but Imoen's hadn't. She resisted it as if it had never been cast. Dyrana grabbed the Eagle Bow and began firing arrows at the Thief/Mage hoping to stop one of her spells. Somehow they didn't even hit. Imoen finished the spell and a small stone went flying towards Sarevok. Dyrana prayed to every deity above and below that it wouldn't work and continued her firing grabbing arrows at random.

Finally an arrow made it through. And it was poisoned. Imoen almost winced as the arrow hit her in the knee. Instead she reached down and pulled it out before throwing it at Sarevok as well. The spell hit Sarevok and he winced, his mouth going open in a silent scream. He managed to resist the spell, only to be kicked by Tazok and sent flying, with the arrow soaring over where he had been seconds ago. He landed hard only a few feet from the symbol of Bhaal. By this time Semaj had begun his spell, replicating Imoen's own, for the warrior still standing. Jaheira's insects were racing towards him but they could not possibly reach him in time. Dynaheir was busy casting a lightning bolt at the hulking warrior who now had Minsc hard pressed, and Khalid was trying to ward off Angelo himself. Dyrana began a Chromatic Orb but felt something bite into her side before she could finish it. The blade pulled out of her side and she turned to see Imoen holding a Short Sword dripping with blood. She had no doubt it would be powerful. She drew her own, the Short Sword of Backstabbing, and stabbed at the tormenter before her.

From that second she did not notice any more of the battle. She did not hear Dynaheir' cry of rage as her Lightning bolt tore through Tazok the same moment Minsc was turned to stone. She did not see Jaheira join her husband against Angelo who was beginning to gain the advantage. She did not witness the witch unsheathe her dagger and charge at the Ogre, her eyes blazing. She did not observe the Mage now slapping himself in an attempt to stop the terrible bites. She was entirely focused on the woman in front of her. They seemed almost equally matched, for while Imoen had ceased her studies of Thievery and such, to learn magics, Dyrana had taken the course of learning both at once. She was the better thief, but there was no doubt as to the more powerful mage. She just hoped that Imoen would be unable to use her spells. She swung and parried and jabbed, and feinted but never seemed to be able to do much to the girl in front of her. For all she knew they could have fought for days, or even months, there, blade against blade. Both were thoroughly exhausted. Imoen sent a swing lower then Dyrana expected and she fell to her knees.  Imoen looked down at her triumphantly. Dyrana managed to block twice but her sword was knocked from her hand. Imoen raised her blade in both hands and prepared to bring it down.
"Goodbye sister." The blade started its way down and Dyrana fell back as far as she could, closing her eyes as she did so. The blade never came though. After a few moments she looked up to see a blade through her sisters chest. She looked up to see her face. Imoen seemed not terrified, at the prospect of death, not angry at who had done it to her, nor furious that Godhood had been denied her. She looked startled. "Impossible." Escaped her lips before she fell off the blade, and spoke no more. Dyrana looked at the blade and slowly followed it up to see her brother. Sarevok let the blade clatter to the ground and knelt down to hug her. Dyrana let herself be embraced and stayed there in his arms for a time.

She looked up to see Dynaheir searching through Jaheira's pack while she fussed over Khalid, and several minor cuts, and a few not so minor ones. Dynaheir found a scroll in the pack and rushed over to unpetrify Minsc. Once done they all turned to the two sitting on the floor. Dyrana stood slowly and said only two words. "Let's go."

Ye Gate House / Aerie the Trickster
« on: August 06, 2005, 02:16:55 PM »
I was lookiung through a bunch of Deities and noticed Baervan Wildwanderer's portfolio. Illusions, deception, traps, wards. Now explain to me how Aerie is a priest of him. I realize that they wanted to have her be a cleric of a Gnomish god, but sheesh. Aerie is so not a trickster. She doesn't start out with many Illusion ward spells and her god makes no sense for her. She could have done Gaerdal Ironhand god of protection, humor, trickery, gem cutting, gnomes(not all those fit but at least some do). Or they could have made her a pureclass mage. Because cleric doesn't make sense.

Ye Gate House / Light in Darkness and Darkness in Light

I find it interesting that in the BG series that there are several guys who get over thier tortured past or race and strive for the greater good, but I don't know of a single one who is evil despite having a great past or being part celestial, or some other good race. Anyone else notice this?

Noobers Dwarven Hammer / What's Your Inner Dragon?
« on: August 02, 2005, 03:50:25 PM »
I know we had a what is your dragon color thread but this is different.

This is another test about dragons. My results were...
And your inner dragon is a ....
Warder Dragon
In the war between good and evil, Warder Dragons take the side of the noble and good.
When it comes to the powers of Chaos vs. those of Law and Order, your inner dragon tends to do things by the book.
As far as magical tendancies, Magical spells come as natural to the Warder Dragon as breathe from it's body.
During combat situations, whether by spells or by claw, your inner dragon will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Dragon Description:
The warder dragon is a large and bulky dragon, with large strong legs and arms. The size of these mammoth dragons starts from birth at the size of a mature border collie! But dont be fooled by these big dragons, they arent slow, but arent fast, and they tend to be more peaceful and talkative than most dragons.
Warder dragons get their names from the fact that they radiate a holy magical aura from their large tattoo like markings that may be anywhere on their bodies, the aura destroys "pure evil" beings, but higher evil ones will just be phased. The warder dragon loves love, and enjoy being in relationships with mates, and they despise weight jokes and anti-self acceptance jokes. They will gladly fight when it comes to defending a homeland or their friends!
This Dragonís favorite elements are: Love, Relationships, Food, Peace, Honor

And your inner dragon is a ....
Crystal Dragon
In the war between good and evil, Crystal Dragons take the side of the noble and good.
When it comes to the powers of Chaos vs. those of Law and Order, your inner dragon tends to do things by the book.
As far as magical tendencies, Magical spells come as natural to the Crystal Dragon as breathe from it's body.
During combat situations, a true Crystal Dragon prefers to defeat opponents by the use of spells and other tactics.
Dragon Description:
Fun-loving and good natured, crystal dragons tend to be responsible rulers. They establish domains in the cold, open northern reaches, building castles out of snow and ice. They leave these castles open to the sky, for they love to watch the stars on clear, cold nights.
Hatchlings have glossy white scales that become more and more translucent with age. By the time they reach adulthood, these scales become luminescent in moonlight. In the full light of the day they glow with a dazzling, almost unbearable brilliance.
Like other benevolent dragons, the crystal dragons prefer to talk rather than fight. Even without special abilities, they can be charming and engaging to an extreme. Gems and metal ores are their foods of choice. A crystal dragon's breath weapon is a cone of glowing shards. The shards slice and cut those caught in the cone.
This Dragonís favorite elements are: Quartz, Ice, and Good Natures

So what are you?

EDIT: I would like to note that I am NOT fat. And I am not obsessed with food either. I am 5'6" and weigh 103 lbs, and am 15 years old. I don't despise weight jokes either. Though when everyone gave an applause when I  broke 100, THAT was annoying.

Can a multiplayer pc who is not the main character romance a mod? Or is it possible to make a mod so that that could happen? In Multiplayer the one who isn't the main character seems to be let down on everything.
