Athkatlan Expansion / Re: Updates Thread
« on: April 30, 2015, 11:41:42 AM »
I really do appreciate the interest, Creepin! I apologize that this post comes more than half a year after yours. Athkatlan Expansion is a project that has been on my mind since I started it. Since my last update, I've been trying to learn a new 3D program that will let me get back into creating assets. This project may have a development time longer than some AAA game titles, but I'm only one guy.  ;D It's a passion project; one that I will release one day!

Twelve interiors completed (6/10 buildings on the main map are finished, interior-wise). A fair bit more written and planned!

Silverale Hall 1-4 finished. Three other areas, including the northernmost building and the two tents also completed!

Got back into the swing of modeling. Two floors of Silverale Hall are finished and looking pretty cool!

Which community updates/keeps track of this? I originally registered mine on BWL, but if I can do so here it'd be great. I'd like one that doesn't use "!" It's terrible to compile dialogues because of the exclamation point.

Would it be possible to submit a board design? I'd be interested in tinkering with one, if so. My only past experience with forum skinning is with invisionfree, however.

Haha, so you're following the old adage of "write drunk, edit sober?"

All too true! I've got a few banters written, coded, and implemented, though I'm finding it especially difficult to write for the Bioware NPCs in a believable and seamless manner.

In a rut with area modeling at the moment. I started the other big area that is part of the main plotline, but it has stalled due to some complications. I've been coming up with a character concept for the NPC and I've been slowly working away at that, however. So far, I've completed the custom kit and item that they join with.

Athkatlan Expansion / Re: Area Descriptions

I do remember reading descriptions of the Dome of the Rose when I started modeling. I wasn't sure if I wanted to include the largest temple to Lathander in the Gem District, when the church is supposed to be a prominent part of the Temple District. Would that blur the lines of the districts too much?

I look at the other districts for inspiration mostly, and the other temples that are scattered about aren't really a major part of the district that they're in. They don't really have any quests attached or anything.

Athkatlan Expansion / New Screenshot Thread [Possible Spoilers]
« on: October 23, 2012, 09:26:15 AM »
I'll open this new screenshot thread by posting the most recent (and last) version of the Gem District. There are a few minor tweaks I have to do, but this is the last one I'll make. No more restarting, I promise! It has been a great learning exercise.

I tried to make better use of space and create a more interesting layout than a bunch of buildings surrounding a lake-thing. What do you think? I also based a lot of my models on already-existing game buildings. They're obviously not clones, but it feels as though it fits much better with Athkatla than the last iteration did.

A preview of the Silverale Hall. Pictured here is the third floor.

Locking this topic in order to make a more up-to-date screenie thread. I'll keep this around for nostalgia's sake!
