Mod Making Discussion / Re: Dynaheir in BG2
« on: March 28, 2014, 10:01:47 PM »
Hey everyone, i know i have been away for almost 2 years now. Real life kicked really hard on me since my last post (dont we wish we could just cast Ressurect in real life too?) and suddently i was bombarded with alot of responsabilities. And after all this time you might want to hear i will be resuming my work on "Dyna" for BG2, but alas i will not promise anything.

Not only because i dont have the free time i used to have when i started thinking about doing this but also because i lost all my coded progress i had made with the mod. On the bright side i still have my 2 notebooks with all the dialogue trees i wrote for her and most of the general ideias. So it would be a matter of recoding everything up. Also on the bright side, i am currently studying Computer Sciences (not sure if in the US the course is called that, but its basically learning structured programming and all of that) at my local university, so if i do get back to her in the future, i hope things will have sped up, at least in the coding departament (althought i am still just learning C & C++, but the general programming logic crosses over to any language, including BG2 modding)!

I might eventually start something on my free time between classes, but once again, as much as i would love to finish this and give you guys the continuation to Dynaheir's romance and story, i just dont have time :(

I would also need to get updated on the new Enchanced Edition mod technicalities, i have zero clues on how to make mods compatible with EE. Another thing i would need to get updated on are the new NPCs, for example, if any of them mentions Dynaheir being dead, i would need to fix that too.

As i said in my first posts, if your interested in persuing this very same ideia, feel no shame in copying my ideias (hell, even PM me and ask me for all the dialogues i have wrote!) if you want to (as long as i get a bit o credit, of course).

I know it is a rather sad post, but i already feel ashamed already for basically abandoning you guys, but please belive when i tell you i had alot of hopes and tried to make this mod, i hope i release (or see it released) someday, but as it stands it might not be in the near future :( .

On another note, shame on the BG community for not caring for poor Dynaheir! Seriously guys, Viconia gets a truckload of mods while poor Dyna stays dead (even mister "i can dance on the head of a pin" has more mods than her)! :P

Thats was all, i think, i will also try to be more active here at TeamBG too :)

Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition / Re: Getting mods to work on BGEE

Any news on this?

What will the new WeiDU actually do? Automatic porting of baldur's gate 1 mods over to the EE?

Are people enjoying this over the original?

Over the original BG1 alone, yes. Over the a modded BGT install, no way in hell!  :P

And i am back, had a really bad month of personal failure & family troubles, but back. I have organized what i intend to do with the mod and i hope this wont be the "i had this ideia for a dialogue and i am just gonna code in" anymore, gonna try to balance the number of NPC-NPC & area talks (so you dont get bombarded with talks in Wakeen's Promenade locations and then Dyna stays silent in other areas)

Also brewing an ideia for a personal quest (but i belive that is beyond my modding knowledge, at least for now). Will try to keep things rather simple so one can have enough content through SoA's campaign.

I have about 2 weeks of free time right now and then i am going to go on a family vacation. At the moment my biggest trouble is to relearn how to code with WeiDU, been a while since i last touched it  :-\

Well, first, if you dont mind getting some engine upgrades, installing Baldur's Gate Trilogy would be good (requires BG2 & Throne of Bhaal, tho)

For BG1, there arent as many mods as for BG2, still some essentials would be:

NPC Mod for BG1 (adds alot of party dialogue & romances)
BG1 Unfinished Business (adds missing quests)
BG1 Quests

and for some of the bigger mods (they all add new areas & quests):

Dark Side of the Sword Coast
Northern Tales of the Sword Coast
Secret of Bonehill
Dark Horizons
Drizzt Saga

There are many more, such as individual NPC mods or gameplay/stats rebalance changes. Your best bet would be browsing the main mod sites and picking what you want, this link can provide you some mods for BG2 as well as links to other modding sites.

Besides our own site here, i would recomend Gibberlings 3 & Pocket Plane Group for BG1 mods.

Good luck!  :)

Noobers Dwarven Hammer / Re: Where are you from?
« on: January 14, 2013, 11:26:19 AM »
Country: Brazil

State: Rio Grande do Sul (southernmost state in the country)

City: Porto Alegre

You know the stereotypical brazilian landscape? hot summers, beaches with crystal clear water, hot semi-nude girls, easy life and all? well... we got none of that down here  :(

"Like Awesome"

Drow are awesome, Ginafae is awesome... Like Awesome!

Ginafae Romance / Re: Ginafae Status/Updates

But BG1 doesnt have... Talkative Viconia (and general NPCs), Ust Natha, Epic plot and epic ending... it doesnt have... you know, stuff!  :(

With BG2 you have much more oportunity to make the character flurish!

The Undying / Re: The Future Of The Undying Mod

The more I keep beta testing BG:EE the more I keep looking at my Undying mod folder that is full of new content that I haven't worked on in a while.  :-\

I am pleased to meet you, Lord Foreshadow!

BG1 NPCs for SoA / Re: New Montaron Romance!!!

As for the Duergar "love", please do read "rape". It was more of a joke really, but i belive the steriotypical Duergar dwarf is very abusive towards his woman.

From what i have seen here, Monty is would kinda fit that type of relationship if the PC finnaly gains his trust  :P

Also, for Duergar fans, please dont take this seriously, i find them to be the most interesting dwarven sub-race, plus they get along with the Drow. (go Underdark go!  :lilly).

Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition / Hows Mod Compatibility?
« on: December 02, 2012, 02:10:45 PM »
So, EE is out and for those that frantically went to play it, how is the mod compatibily? I heard they are encoraging the modding community but i also heard that many mods dont work with EE.

As for mod makers, how are things? we gonna have to learn new things or modding is still the "same" procedure?

As much as EE seems nice, graphics is something i really dont consider when evaluating a game. I will be playing it only for the new NPCs & Quest if not many mods work with it, because BG without mods now just seems quite bland  :P

Meh.. I ask b/c it is nice to know that I am not talking to myself at all times as I slowly descend down the rabbit hole of madness!  :-X

I wish you the best of luck at school.

Ha! Yes, your a very active member here, that much i have noticed  :P

Also, i would like to report that i almost lost all my modding progress due to HDD failure, the unit in which i kept my games (and the my five BG2 folders  ;)) went RAW (non formatted state) and i couldnt acess no matter what (tried reinstalling windows, downloading alot of supposed HDD repair tools but nothing). In the end i had to use a special tool that would recover my files and copy them to another hard-drive, with no other option to go i had to buy a new HDD (since the my other drive is very small and is only for the windows files).

With that said, the sad part was most of my installed games & programs didint get recognized within the new drive. On the bright side, i didint lost my Dynaheir mod and i now have a additional HDD (after formatting, the other one is working again)

Oh and thanks  :D, i am currently finished with school now, studying for tests to join a university is all i have left to do.

Quite stuck as they were last time (actually, as i remember i was trying to learn how to force NPC-NPC dialogue at a specific moment).

Unfortunately these last months were VERY busy for me with finishing school and (as of now) getting into federal university. I will surely get back to it mid january-februnary, dont worry!  :P

If your asking because you might wanna implement Dyna on your BG1NPCs mod, what i previously state is still valid, i am very noobish and i dont really know where this whole modding road will take me (writing alot of dialogue in-character is much harder than i thought) so if you have modding ideias, dont let me hold you back :)

On a positive note, i think i wrote (on paper) 1 or 2 Dyna-Viccy dialogues between now & my last post (hint: both women still dont get along very well).
