Tsujatha Melalor Romance / Stats

It should be his personality that reflects who he is, not his stats. His stats need to be adjusted for the gameworld so they're not inappropriate, but his personality is really his identity.

There's a difference between "above average" and "superhuman". Tsujatha is currently "above average" in absolutely everything. What's the reasonning behind each stat being so high, apart from TEH BOOKZ SEZ SO?

And, Undertaker? Many, many people I know from other communities work on 5 + projects, myself included.

And I think the fundamental point is that many people working on 5+ projects have demonstrated their ability to deliver the goods over a number of successful releases. If somebody new turns up and promises to make a ton of stuff, it's an uphill struggle of releasing things before I'll start taking them seriously. (And in my case, the amount of stuff I commit to is *still* pretty stupid.)

To my knowledge, there is no one mod aside from JPS's Haer 'Dalis Romance, your own de'Arnise Romance and the two previously Bhaalspawn-themed mods out there currently still in development for any NPCs.

There's the Banter Pack. Why doesn't that count?

Sim, I'm not sure if it is a good place to mention it, but I understand you've taken a good look at BG1 NPC romance dialogues already. If you have time in the future, your feedback will be appreciated.

I don't think I've commented on the romance dialogues before. For the sake of preserving the tentative peace, though, I'm afraid I have to decline on doing so.

Okay, thanks. I've added you to the comprehensive list of people who think SimDing0 sucks.

I seem to find myself asking this increasingly these days, but can you remind me at which point I offended you?

I wouldn't go so far as to denounce and give lables. But the similarities in the organization, offence and defence styles are stunning. You can claim the lose structure, but it does not appear to be that way from the sidelines. Same at the Attick. Attick's banner is a smiling smiley, PPg'ers is a rolling eyes one. While the atmosphere is different, it is equally controlled to be stifling for some, and inspirational for others. I'd say PPG is easier mobilized for an offensive motion, but the recent threads had shown that their defensive tactics are a copy of Attick's ones. The rare offensive actions that Attick undertook was exactly similar to that of many PPG strikes, appart from the fact that it was fought on their territory, while PPG likes foreign soil.

Well, it probably IS fairly difficult to know how to react to somebody who turns up and says "you're all hypocrites, fuckers!" The natural reaction is presumably for all those fuckers to turn round and explain that they don't think they're hypocrites after all, and if it comes off as an organised defence then that's just unfortunate. I haven't read enough Attic flamewars to know whether it's simply a case of it being "fashionable" to side together defensively in arguments, but I think I'd place my stress more on the tirade of legal, ethical and historical lectures that populate any good discussion there. (Indeed, it's the first place I'd go to if I wanted to learn more about the connection between my views on fanfic and my upbringing.)

P.S. Now that I think of it, my posts are against CoM rules... So, I guess, I'd better stop fishing for a ban.

Oh, are the rules inviting us to "get the fuck out"?

All and all, Attick's organization and laws in my view are pretty similar to ... OMG! PPG! Peculiary, the two communities seems to vehemently oppose one another on the Issues.

Really? I thought the Attic was the type of place you found strict forum rules, extensive copyright notices, and firmly defined hierarchy. As opposed to PPG's rather casual stance on pretty much everything. Or is it like Hitler and Stalin?

Short Version
It's a fanfic community.

Long Version
It's a fanfic community which shot to fame when David Gaider hosted something or other fairly trivial there, and in spite of half the membership leaving over a flamewar on a regular basis, it remains popular to this day for no apparent reason. Fanfic must consist of a minimum of 200 chapters, and criticism is limited to "More please!" or a positive smilie of your choice--otherwise you run the risk of being bombarded with pages of information about the US constitution and free speech by one of their many experts in the field. (Under special circumstances, you may also be given a history lesson in which somebody explains how a revered member left forever during a previous flamewar on the same subject.)
Rumour has it that their membership doubled when they proclaimed jcompton to be Satan.

Oh, the Attic's improved lately?

However, criticising or praising a mod or a work of fiction based solely on who made it, is hardly an honorable thing.

I wasn't gonna say, because it'd be NiGHTMARE's cue to turn up, but... yeh, I have to agree. I think it's vastly unfair to condemn the Flirt Packs based on your (erroneous) perception of the authors.

I happen to be an Atticer

Can you provide some evidence here? If you haven't posted a 237-chapter fanfic and then got upset with the responses to it recently, then you're not *really* from the Attic. Optionally, you should also pretend to be an expert in US law during every flamewar about forum rules.

There's really nothing terribly small-minded about "the majority of the player base will prefer heterosexual romance".

Could you use SUBCOMPONENT to split the mod into two components:

- Dialogue SimDing0 thinks is good.
- The rest.

Of course, two components may not be neccessary.

Game Be Gone? What's the point?

Indeed. And I think limiting the number of people who waste their time on mods like this is an admirable hope.

There's a big difference between a drow vampire and a half-kobold.

Yes, you're right. One's ridiculous because it's a drow half-vampire, and the other's ridiculous because it's a bisexual half-kobold. (And if anything, I'd say the drow vampire has the upper hand in terms of being taken seriously.) They're both perfectly legitimate D&D constructs, but similarly, they're both laughable concepts.
